Bayards is a leading company designing and constructing large, complex aluminum structures in a growing and highly challenging market. We operate internationally and are active in various markets, including luxury yacht building, defense, and the helideck market for both the offshore energy sector and the hospital market.
Bayards is looking for a motivated Buyer to join our team.
In this role, you will work closely with various departments within the different Business Units and report to the Purchasing Manager. You will work from the locations in Nieuw-Lekkerland and Heijningen.
What you will do:
- Evaluate quotes and select suppliers based on quality, technical requirements, availability, and price, possibly in consultation with Project Managers, Internal Sales, and Proposal Engineers.
- Purchase materials, raw materials, components, and services based on planning or internal needs, following the technical specifications of the requisitioner from (international) suppliers.
- Prepare requests for quotations.
- Prepare, close, and follow up on orders with (international) suppliers.
- Negotiate with suppliers on delivery terms such as price, delivery time, and quality.
- Discuss deviations in deliveries with suppliers.
- Monitor delivery times and take action in case of (imminent) exceeding.
- Explore the (international) supplier market concerning delivery options and supply reliability for purchased goods and services.
- Follow developments in (basic) materials, wages, and production locations on the (international) supplier market by doing desk research and attending trade fairs.
- Conduct site surveys at potential (international) suppliers to assess production conditions and processes, product quality, certification, and risk analysis in the context of delivery reliability.
- Discuss and coordinate the purchasing process and daily activities with colleagues and the Purchasing Manager.
- Make proposals to optimize the purchasing process.
Requirements:
- You have completed a technical education at HBO level (NEVI) or want to achieve this.
- You have experience as a Buyer in a technical, international environment or want to gain experience in this field.
- You are fluent in English, both in writing and speaking (knowledge of German and French is a plus).
- You are an independent, service-oriented team player.
- You are an experienced negotiator or want to learn how to become one.
