Senior Climate Change Advisor
We are hiring a Senior Climate Change Advisor who is motivated and passionate about
working with commercial and sustainable investments that create impact in countries across
Africa, Asia, Latin America, and parts of Europe.

About the role
As Senior Climate Change Advisor, you will be the driving force for all matters related to IFU’s
climate ambition as stipulated in its climate policy, and support IFU in operationalizing its
commitment to a net zero investment portfolio by 2040. You will ensure that IFU maintains thought
leadership in its scientific knowledge, regulatory understanding, and operational excellence
regarding climate change.
You will be an important part of the sustainability and impact unit, a dedicated, highly specialized
team, and will work in close collaboration across the investment verticals, as well as the Legal,
Communications and Finance teams, particularly supporting climate change considerations in early
screening and through the investments due diligent process.
Main Responsibilities
As Senior Climate Change Advisor, you will:
- maintain IFU climate change toolbox including the climate policy, GHG accounting
- perform project and portfolio GHG accounting considering both relative metrics and absolute
- advise investment teams and develop sector guidance and training on climate mitigation and
- track relevant frameworks and regulatory developments (e.g. TCFD, SFDR, CSRD) and help
- build long-term GHG pathways for IFU focus sectors including setting short and midterm
- collaborate with other Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) under climate focussed
- develop an approach for IFU to better reflect climate risks in project assessments and financial
Qualification and Experience
- PhD or Master's degree within natural resource sciences, engineering, economics, or similar
- +3 years of relevant work experience
- Thorough understanding of environmental science and climate change
- Excellent data analysis, mathematical, and deductive reasoning skills
- Thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory processes related to environmental
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
